Well it looks like it’s official, we have been expecting this for a long time, Verizon has stated that they simply are not going to be updating the Eris to Android 2.2 when they have other, newer and better, options available.
A spokeswoman from Verizon stated, “We have other options in Android devices, so this is part of the normal evolution of our portfolio.” So if you currently have a Droid Eris and are wanting to stay current with future Android updates, your only option is to upgrade your device and hope that it will be updated as your new phone grows older.
