The few lucky owners of the Sony Xperia Tablet S can rest easy tonight knowing that starting tomorrow, April 18th, Sony will start pushing out the update to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for the slate. The folks from Sony have just announced the details over on their blog, and we’ll be able to get the latest and greatest starting tomorrow morning.
The Xperia Tablet S is currently stuck on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, so the update to Jelly Bean will be a big one bringing tons of added benefits to the slate. While Sony has their own UI changes, tons of additional apps like Music Unlimited and more, this will surely make the tablet that much better.
According to Sony the Xperia Tablet S update to Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean will start flowing out to devices tomorrow morning at 9 AM PST, so you’ll want to start checking for updates all afternoon in your settings menu. They haven’t released a changelog yet, but all the additions of Jelly Bean should be included.
That means project butter will bring a faster, smoother, better experience and UI. Which should also improve battery life. Google Now voice search (my favorite) will bring convenience to the slate, and of course expandable notifications and a better keyboard to name a few. Being an update from ICS to Jelly Bean it should be a big one, so you might want to make sure you have a good WiFi connection and plenty of battery life. Let us know when you get the update tomorrow and if you have any issues. Enjoy Xperia tablet owners!
