Facebook Home is set to arrive on the Google Play Store for Android come April 12th, but it will only be available in the U.S. and will be limited to a select few Android smartphones only. Mostly from HTC and Samsung, but don’t worry folks because more users should get it soon. Reports are now confirming that Facebook‘s new Home will launch in Canada a few weeks after the U.S.
The mention of Facebook Home only being initially available in the United States wasn’t a big part of the announcement, but indeed that is true and those up in Canada and other parts of the world will have to wait. Canada is used to testing beta features on Facebook, but this time around they are second on the plate.
According to MobileSyrup, who talked to a Facebook Director of Marketing, after initially launching in the U.S. will will see it quickly be released within a few days – or weeks – up in Canada. So far we haven’t heard any reports of a “Facebook Phone” launching on other carriers, as AT&T got the exclusive on that, but we should be hearing more shortly.
We’re not going to get into the debate and discussion over whether Facebook Home is something we want or not, as we’re still waiting for the mass public to get their hands on it come April 12th. We know many aren’t fond of the idea, but there’s millions of daily Facebook users that could benefit. At least we now known Canada will quickly be able to enjoy the same features as us here in the states. Possibly on April 19th. Check out all of our Facebook Home and hands-on coverage below!
