Despite the fact that the Samsung Fascinate for Verizon launched with Android 2.1, there’s still some hope that the “new” devices still to launch for carriers around the world will all feature the latest version of Android, better known as Froyo. Luckily, Acer’s Liquid Metal handset will indeed launch with Android 2.2, and it should be hitting retail shelves by the end of October. In the UK.
Engadget’s confirmed that the handset will be making the rounds in the United Kingdom come the end of October. There’s no word on whether or not the handset will show up anywhere else in the world, but we can probably all safely assume that it will. As for the fun part, those rumored specifications include: Qualcomm’s MSM7230 800MHz processor under the hood (the same one found in the T-Mobile G2, actually), and a 3.6-inch (touchscreen?) display. It features an 800 x 480 resolution. There will also be Bluetooth 3.0, too. And yes, that’s brushed aluminum. As soon as more details emerge, we’ll pass them along.
