Google announced the Chromebook Pixel back in late-February and at that time they offered details on the LTE model, however they had left the shipping timeframe sort of open. Google had said that the LTE equipped Chromebook Pixel would begin shipping in April. And well, true to that word, we now have a shipping date and it is indeed in April.
Specifically, Google has said the LTE Chromebook Pixel will ship by April 8. This particular model is priced at $1,449 and it brings 64GB of internal storage (as opposed to the 32GB of storage on the Wi-Fi only model). The Wi-Fi only model is selling for $1,299 which means those opting for the LTE model will be paying a $150 premium.
That of course, will come in addition to any service that you add-on after purchase. The LTE Chromebook Pixel uses the Verizon network and can be added on to an existing Share Everything plan for $10 per month. Otherwise, those looking to have LTE service as a stand-alone offering can opt for a $9.99 day pass or by paying $20, $35 or $50 for 1GB, 3GB or 5GB of data.
Pixel and LTE pricing aside, lets recap some of the specs of the notebook itself. The Chromebook Pixel has a 12.85-inch display that touts goodies such as a 3:2 aspect ratio, 178 degree viewing angle, 400 nit, 239 pip and resolution of 2560 x 1700. Oh, the display is also a touchscreen. Otherwise, the Pixel has a dual-core 1.5GHz Intel Core i5 processor, Intel HD Graphics 4000, 4GB of RAM, up to 5 hours of battery life and extra perks to include 1TB of Drive storage for two years.
