HTC recently announced that the One Developer Edition smartphone was now available to order. The smartphone isn’t exactly cheap at $649, and this version is specifically for developers offering features that developers require such as an unlocked bootloader and SIM. HTC also gives up all the hardware details of the device since it’s up for order now.

The One Developer Edition uses a QUALCOMM Snapdragon 600 processor. The device has 2 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage space while the display supports full HD resolution. The outside of the device is made from metal rather than plastic which should make it more durable.

Other features the phone include speakers on the front along with two dual-membrane microphones for voice quality. The smartphone is compatible with most networks since it covers so many frequencies including LTE 700/850/AWS/1900MHz, GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900, and HSPA/WCDMA 850/1900/2100 MHz. That wide coverage will give developers plenty of options when it comes to getting data access for the device.

Other than the hardware, the device features a variety of open APIs that are included such as infrared and Bluetooth Low Energy. The device is available in limited quantities and will ship to customers in the United States following the release of the HTC One. It’s unclear exactly how limited supplies will be.
