LG announced the Optimus F7 during Mobile World Congress and as of today, it looks like the handset will be heading to Korea. The catch here, the handset has been announced as the Optimus LTE III. The carrier will be SK Telecom and the Optimus F7 (LTE III) will serve as the follow up to the Optimus LTE II.

Similar to the MWC announcement, LG seems to be pushing this as a device for everyone. Previously we had seen talk of the F-Series as being able to bring a “premium user experience and the speed of 4G LTE to a mass audience.” With this Optimus LTE III announcement, LG is talking about this handset as being good for “UX conscious consumers.”

They also talk of the Optimus LTE III as being good for first time smartphone owners, noting that existing feature phone users will be able to easily adapt. Regardless of who picks this device up though, the features will be the same. Basically, the Optimus LTE III will feature a 4.7-inch True HD IPS display, dual-core 1.5GHz processor, 2GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, 2540 mAh battery, 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera, 8 megapixel rear-facing camera and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

The handset will be available in black and white. Anyway, while we may see an Optimus F7 released here in the US, it will most likely not arrive as the Optimus LTE III. Simply put, it will likely be a carrier re-branded handset should it come to the US market. As an example, we recently saw mention of the Optimus F5 coming to Verizon Wireless as the Lucid 2.
