HTC has been struggling a bit of lately, but the company has just signed a new partnership deal that’s bound to bring in at least a few new customers. HTC has signed a three-year partnership deal with the Union of European Football Associations, making HTC “the official phone and tablet” of the UEFA. This partnership is schedule to run until the end of the 2014/2015 season.
Of course, while soccer may not enjoy much exposure in the US, it’s huge in many other regions of the world. HTC will have advertisements seen by millions and millions of soccer fans all over the world, and being able to say that you provide the official phones and tablets of the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League can’t hurt either. This partnership also covers the UEFA Super Cup, the Women’s Champions League final, and the Futsal Cup final, so HTC could potentially reach a ton of soccer fans by striking this deal.
The partnership will officially kick off in January, but we don’t know many specifics about it yet. What’s interesting is that the UEFA and HTC are including tablets in this, which is an area we know HTC has stepped away from. Maybe HTC is planning to jump back into the tablet space sometime in the next few years? We’ll have to wait and see what happens.
Of course, HTC always has a variety of smartphones to advertise, including the recent DROID DNA. HTC’s latest high-end offering is one snazzy handset, so soccer fans can expect to see a lot of it once this partnership gets rolling. Be sure to checkout our story timeline below for more on HTC!
