So, you’ve either got a new handset that came running Jelly Bean out of the box, or you’re lucky enough to have received a Jelly Bean update already. There are a number of cool things you can do in Jelly Bean, and lately we’ve been seeing a lot of developers pushing updates for their apps that add new features for Jelly Bean. One of the apps getting support for Jelly Bean today is Beautiful Widgets, and looking at the list of what’s new over on the app’s Google Play page, it seems there’s a lot to get excited about.

Of course, with Beautiful Widgets being an extremely popular Android app, we have a feeling that many users will be all too happy to hear of this update. That’s especially true when you consider that LevelUp Studio appears to have pulled out all the stops for this update, which brings Beautiful Widgets up to version 5.0. Perhaps most importantly, this update adds support for Jelly Bean notifications, lock screen widgets, and the Daydream feature added in Android 4.2.

LevelUp Studio has also made some cosmetic improvements in version 5.0, as well as adding new customization options. Version 5.0 seems to be more of an overhaul than a simple update, so if you’re a regular Beautiful Widgets user, you’ll have a lot to check out after you’ve applied version 5.0. What’s most exciting, however, are the improvements made to accommodate those who are running Jelly Bean.

The update Beautiful Widgets is getting today is just the latest in a long line of app updates that add support for Jelly Bean. We will undoubtedly see more updates that add similar features as Jelly Bean’s share of the Android market continues to grow, so we’ll be keeping an eye out for those. You can get the latest version of Beautiful Widgets right now from the Google Play Store [download link], but new users will have to shell out $2.49 to download the app – a fee many longtime Beautiful Widgets users would say is worth it.

  1. Really liking some of the UI changes.

I did notice one bit of inconsistency in the experience when using [get themes] inside of a specific widget’s configuration. The BW icon isn’t functional here; you have to use [Back] instead which is weird because the BW icon is functional in just about every other part of the application. The [Theme Store] that you can access from the main configuration area functions just like you’d expect, so I’m not exactly sure why it’s different when using [get themes].
