While Instagram is most people’s default photo sharing app, oftentimes, your feed is probably filled with food pics and travel envy inducing photos, and worse, selfies. If what you’re looking for is more quality photography, you’d probably have to turn to other apps which have a community filled with “serious” photographers looking to have their talent discovered by other photography enthusiasts. 500px is one of those communities, and now they have completely redesigned the app for a better experience for users.

The reason for the redesign is for the app to be able to bring a “brighter and more simplified experience” for those viewing it on Android devices. Users will now be able to browse through photo recommendations so it will be easier to discover new photographers and photographs themselves. The user’s home feed is also now filled with those photographers that they actually follow. And if you yourself are a budding photographer, the new personal profile layout will showcase you better.

Users will also now be able to create Galleries, wherein you can curate and arrange the photos you like and group them either into themes (think Pinterest board-like) or according to personal preference, so that these photos and collection may be more discoverable by the community. Other changes to the app include making photos viewable in full aspect ratio, and an improvement on the core search functionality.

If you already have 500px, you can update your app already. If you don’t have it yet, feel free to download the app from the Google Play Store for free.
