SO there were a couple of “reveals” this morning in the Xperia pro and the Xperia PLAY, but did you know there was a third device in this suite? Probably! But did you know the correct way to write the name? No way! The correct way to spell the third of the Sony Ericsson reveals this morning (or yesterday, however you look at it,) is “Xperia neo.” This is both the correct spelling and the correct capitalization, take note. Also take double note of “Xperia pro” and “Xperia PLAY” – both are official capitalizations straight from the top. This Xperia neo is a phone which Sony Ericsson has concentrated on form factor for the most it seems, with an ergonomic shape made for the human hand.
The Xperia neo will be launching with what Sony Ericsson says will be “the latest version of the Android platform,” which we can hope will be Android 2.3.x Gingerbread or higher. This phone will be using Exmor R technology to bring you the most accurate photos and videos in even the lowest of lights, has built-in HDMI, and features a reality display with your very own Mobile BRAVIA engine.
And what’s this? Xperia neo will be available in several colors? Joyous day! You can grab the Xperia neo in Blue Gradient, Red, or Silver. The display on all colors of the Xperia neo will be a capacitive touchscreen at 3.7 inches with 854 x 480pixels (FWVGA) and a bunch of scratch-resistance. You’ll be able to play music with an A2DP Bluetooth stereo, PlayNow service, work with music with TrackID, and roll hardcore with your usual media player and music tones.
The size of this device is 116 x 57 x 13 mm and the weight is right around 126 grams. Memory includes microSD card with 8GB, upgradable to 32GB. Under the hood you’ll be peeking at a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255, and oh, did I mention you’ll be able to play 3D games? That’s just a little bonus I suppose as it’s hidden in the fact sheet we’re peeking at. This phone’ll be available globally from the end of the first quarter, 2011.
