Several Mi Max users in India were complaining over the weekend that they were having WiFi connectivity problems, despite the fact that the phone indicates that the WiFi details are saved and connected. At first, there was no official acknowledgment from Xiaomi that there was any problem at all, but finally now, they’ve announced that their engineers have figured out the problem and they are releasing an over-the-air update to fix it and allow users to finally have WiFi again.
The Xiaomi Mi Max was launched in India just last month and it was highly anticipated, given all the leaks and rumors preceding it. Sales were pretty good, but then those who bought units during the first week of August started complaining that their WiFi connectivity was not working. Given the fact that we always want to be connected, this was a problem indeed. Those who bought units last month however, were not having the same problems.
Now, Mi Max owners, even those that don’t have problems with their WiFi just to be sure, can update their software to fix the issue. There are four ways to get the update. First is to directly update from the Updater app which can be found in the Tools folder. The second is to download the OTA zip and follow their instructions, but this option is only for those who’re having WiFi issues. The third method is for advance users and it is updating through Recovery or Fastbot.
The last option is to got to Mi Exclusive Service centers and have it fixed there. Given the fact that you will not have WiFi other than your mobile data, Xiaomi recommends doing the first option.
