Only a few days after the official launch of the Sony Xperia Z5 and the UK prices posted on the website, Sony is slashing off the prices of the newest flagship phones. The Xperia Z5 was listed at £599 while the Xperia Z5 Compact at £549. The Xperia Z5 Premium was priced at £699 but now the handsets are listed with much lower prices.
The Z5 Compact is £429 while the Xperia Z5 is now £549. That’s more than a £100 price cut– £120 for the Z5 Compact and £50 for the main Xperia Z5. The Xperia Z5 Premium is down from £699 to £629. This is a shocking development but Sony shocked the industry first with sky-high prices–way more expensive than the past Xperia Z models. However, we expected it somehow to change especially the Apple is about to launch the next iPhone and because of the fact that Samsung sales are not really impressive.
Phone makers are having a hard time selling premium phones mainly because there are a lot of affordable mid-range phones that already have high specs. Perhaps Sony didn’t receive a lot of pre-orders the first day it listed the phone. Poor sales or pre-orders on the first weak, in this case, first day–prompted the company to make a wise decision to change the prices. Sony seemed to be very ambitious but at least we know the company is still focused on reaching the top.
