There used to be a time that when you put your smartphone in a cover case, it was only for protection or even decorative purposes. But now we expect them to have functionalities as well and to enhance our user experience for our devices. Samsung has also upped its case game the past few years and for the new flagships Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, they’ve brought on a whole new line of highly functional cases, including a new LED view cover one.
This new case from Samsung for its new devices is just a shell-type cover at first glance. But on the cover itself, hidden in plain sight, is an LED display that gives you several minimalist looking functions and notifications. You can see incoming calls, if you’ve received any text messages, alarms, music playing, charging status, etc, without having to open and unlock your smartphone. You can also use several touch commands on the case itself, like swiping left to receive a call or swiping right to turn off your timer.
Aside from the LED cover, Samsung is also introducing several familiar and not so familiar kinds of cases. You have the Leather Cover which is really more for fashion and protection as well. The Keyboard cover is for those who kind of miss Blackberry and its physical keyboard because you now can slip it on your phone if you need to type out things easier. The Lens cover meanwhile allows your phone to interchange two kinds of lens, telephoto or wide angle. Obviously that is for photographers or those who want to explore mobile photography.
You also have the Clear View Cover which is pretty self-explanatory. The S View Cover meanwhile is something previous Samsung flagship owners is familiar with already. The Flip Wallet is your usual smartphone case with space for cards or money inside. The Clear Cover is like the Clear View Cover, except it’s not a case but just a cover. Pricing and availability of the cases and covers will probably come really soon.
