Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Tab 4 lineup back in the beginning of April, however it seems there was another model still in the works. The newest member of the Galaxy Tab 4 lineup has been unveiled and Samsung has said it is available now in advance of the 2014-2015 school year. The model is the Galaxy Tab 4 Education and it is indeed aimed at the education space.
This particular model sports a rugged design and it is one that Samsung is touting as being student-friendly. The tablet has a 10.1-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 800. Other spec highlights include 16GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot (up to 64GB), 1.5GB of RAM, quad-core 1.2GHz processor and a 6800 mAh battery which is said to be able to provide up to 10 hours of power.
Samsung has the Galaxy Tab 4 Education running Android 4.4. Kit Kat and sitting with some education related software features. These include Google Play for Education which allows teachers to find educator approved apps, books and videos for students ranging from K-12. Another key feature for Google Play for Education involves billing — any purchases can be made using purchase orders.
A few of the remaining software perks include easy device provisioning and an “easy to use” device management console. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Education will be priced at $369.99 and available through Samsung distribution and channel partners. Along with the tablet itself, Samsung also has some accessories available (such as keyboards).
