Samsung has a little mid-range offering in the Galaxy Gio and its headed for Canada starting Monday, August 8th. We first saw this device back in January and what you get here is a decent mid-range powered device with Android 2.3 Gingerbread but the rest of the specs might leave a little to be desired.
The Samsung Galaxy Gio should look familiar as it has a very similar design to other Galaxy phones. The same coated rear panel and square camera and all. What you Canadians will be getting from Bell or Virgin Mobile in the Galaxy Gio is Android 2.3 Gingerbread, a 3 MP camera as well as a 3.2″ display. The only downside is the processor is only 800 Mhz but for the price this phone should be pretty decent.
Available August 8th for only $149 OFF contract, you can get this for free with a new 3-year agreement. While it may not be a top tier phone it does come in at a great price and the specs and design could have some claiming this is the poor mans Nexus S. Having decent performance and no contract for just $149 makes this worth the buy for someone in Canada that doesn’t need the best.
If this device is any interest to you be sure to check out both Bell and Virgin Mobile in Canada starting Monday, August 8th.
