Parallels Access, a remote desktop application is now available for Android. The app is available for Android devices running Android 4.0 or later and will allow users to remotely access a Mac or Windows computer. The app is touted as being the “fastest, simplest, and most reliable way to remotely access” your computer.
First things first though. On the Mac side you will need to be running 10.7 or later and on the PC side you’ll need Windows 7 or Windows 8. The Parallels Access app is free to download, however you will need to pay an annual $19.99 subscription fee for use. New users can get a 14-day free trial, and otherwise, the annual subscription allows you to access up to 5 computers.
Bottom line here, Parallels Access gives you remote access that allows you to do everything from find and read a single file, or launch an app and edit a file. The folks at Parallels tout the Access app as being able to offer Lock’n’Go Magnifying Glass, which allows for easy editing on a smaller screen, the ability to use the remote applications full screen on your Android device, and a reliable connection even when on a slower 3G network.
Parallels isn’t the only name in terms of remote access apps, however they do seem to be one of the more respected. The app has a few dozen reviews as of this time, and most seem overwhelmingly positive. In fact, the Parallels Access app currently sits with a rating of 4.9. Having said that, it is nice to see the app finally arrive for Android — as it had been available only for the iPad for quite some time now.
The Parallels Access app can be found using this Google Play Store link.
