By now, it seems that a 32GB Nexus 7 tablet is all but confirmed, but just in case you aren’t convinced that Google is plotting a reveal, Staples has some more evidence for us today. Spotted by Android Police, a listing for a 32GB Nexus 7 has appeared on the Staples Advantage website, giving us even more reason to believe that the tablet exists. The fact that the 32GB Nexus 7 has appeared in a Staples listing isn’t the interesting part, though – what’s interesting is the model’s price.
Staples Advantage gives the new Nexus 7 variant a price of $248.37, which is exactly $3.11 less than the Staples price for the 16GB model. Recent rumors claim that the 16GB model will be phased out once the 32GB variant is on the scene, and this listing backs up that claim. In other words, if you were thinking of picking up a 16GB Nexus 7, it might be a better idea to wait and see if the 32GB model gets an official announcement.
At this point, we’re very tempted to say that it will, but in the world of tech, nothing is for sure until there’s been official confirmation. Still, there has been an absurd number of leaks surrounding the 32GB Nexus 7, which leads us to believe that it’s only a matter of time before the big G makes its announcement. The listing for the 32GB Nexus 7 says that the new model will be available on October 18 – just two days away – but we’re going to agree with Android Police and assume that’s just a placeholder date.
In truth, Staples probably doesn’t yet know when the 32GB Nexus 7 will launch. We’ve been hearing that Google could ship the new variant on October 24, which is a much more believable date than October 18. In any case, an announcement should be coming up soon, so stay tuned, because this probably isn’t the last leak the 32GB Nexus 7 will suffer before its eventual reveal.
Why is the 32gb less than the 16gb?
Rumors have it that the 8GB $199 tablet will be replaced by the 16GB, and the 32 will take over the $249 price point now that we don’t get that $25 free bonus with the tablet as before.
We’ll see
For only $50 why wouldn’t anyone get the 32GB version.
For only $50 more why wouldn’t anyone get the 32 GB version…
