If you’ve wanted to do away with your cable subscription but couldn’t do so because you still want your Game of Thrones fix (legally of course) fret no more because HBO Now will finally be available for Android devices, not just for Chromecast but also for mobile devices. This means you don’t have to suffer from HBO envy from the Apple TV and Apple device users as you’ll also be able to enjoy their original series and selected movies on your Android.
HBO Now of course includes the current most popular show Game of Thrones, as well as their other big hits like Veep, Silicon Valley, and even upcoming new show Ballers. Unlike other video streaming services like Netflix, you won’t have to wait a few weeks or even months before you’ll be able to catch it there. The current shows will be available on HBO Now when it airs.
Aside from the current critically-acclaimed and popular programs still on air, you’ll also be able to watch other HBO “classics” like Band of Brothers, The Wire, The Sopranos, Rome, etc. HBO Now will also be offering Hollywood movies to its subscription service so if you feel like catching up on movies you missed in the theater, this is one way to do it.
The HBO Now subscription costs $14.99 per month. No word yet if Android devices will also get the free 30-day trial preview or when the service will actually start being available on Android devices and Chromecast. We’ll let you know as we get more information during the ongoing I/O conference.
