Hands-on AT&T’s OpenPeak Android Tablet

Announced earlier this year, the Android running OpenPeak tablet is finally out of the pre-production stages and Slashgear has gotten to give it the hands-on treatment.

Some of the devices specs are still unclear, however the ones we currently know that were released in March are as follows:

  • 1.9GHz Moorestown, Atom-based processor
  • 7-inch multitouch, LED-backlit high-resolution LCD
  • 802.11bgn & Bluetooth 2.1
  • 3G HSDPA (AT&T)
  • Dual cameras (1080p front-facing, 5MP rear)
  • HDMI output
  • microSDHC slot
  • 9.0″W x 5.0″H x .59″D
  • 1.15 lbs.

This tablet has quite a bit of physical buttons that are always appreciated on such a device. The physical buttons include Home, Back, Menu, Power and the volume rocker that is located at the top of the device. Some initial software observations include the keyboard being somewhat cramped, but other than that this looks like a really solid Android based tablet and a real competitor for the iPad market.
