There will never be a dearth of mid- to low-end tablets that has just enough “oomph” to get your mobile needs satisfied without making your wallet groan. One such example is this GSmart 7 tablet that tipped to be coming in the near future, sporting specs that will hopefully have a matching price.
The GSmart 7 is definitely not going to be a powerhouse. It has a single-core Intel Atom Z2460, which means it runs at only 1.6 GHz. It also has 1 GB of RAM and a choice of 8 or 16 GB of internal storage, expandable to up to 32 GB with a micro SD card. As the name suggests, it sports a 7-inch display with a measly 1024×600 resolution. It does have two cameras, though. A 2 megapixel front-facing one and 3 megapixels on the rear.
While the GSmart won’t be winning awards, it seems to be designed to last. At least judging by the appearance, it seems to be enclosed by case that’s built to withstand some amount of rough handling. The 4,100 mAh battery sounds also somewhat long-lasting, giving 6 hours of video playback, 10 hours of music, or 6 hours with WiFi turned on.
No date or price yet for this odd tablet, but it will probably be shocking if it gets a price tag that isn’t much lower than mid-range tablets today. There is also no mention of the Android version, if it’s running Android at all. Though with the growing trend of Intel-based Android tablets lately, that is quite likely to be the case.
