At the Google I/O developers’ conference in May this year, Google debuted the second version of their cardboard VR headset aptly called Google Cardboard. Version 2.0 of Google Cardboard now has some added features, including support for phones with bigger screens, like the Nexus 6 which wouldn’t fit in the first iteration. Just recently, the official tech specs and drawings came out for Google Cardboard v2.

There was a lot of hype when the first version of Google Cardboard came out in December last year, as a lot of manufacturers were coming out with VR (virtual reality) headsets but most priced expensively and out of reach for most consumers. Google Cardboard was the answer to that, and the mothership has built up a good user base and app ecosystem by allowing third party manufacturers to build the cardboard headsets and sell them quickly.

Now, Google Cardboard will effectively attract more people as the platform now allows for big-screen smartphones. As the drawings have come out, manufacturers are sure to be putting out their versions to market pretty soon. You can just wait for that.
