When Expedia started back in the late 90s, its goal was simply to help book flights and hotels for travelers to different parts of the world. However, as things slowly went digital and traveling became one of the favorite hobbies of people, users started to look for things beyond hotel and plane booking. The newest update to their mobile app now includes other travel must-haves, like booking travel activities as well as your on-ground transport to wherever you are going.
You’ve booked your flight for your vacation or a business trip. Problem solved right? But you still have to figure out a way to get from the airport to your hotel (also booked through Expedia). You’re lucky if the place you’re going to has a very efficient train system from the airport to the main part of the city, but more often than not, you need some sort of car or shuttle to get you there. You can now do it in advance through Expedia, so that everything from your home country to the plane to the airport of destination to your hotel can be one smooth, seamless ride.
Meanwhile, if you’re traveling with your family or a large group of friends, it’s also sometimes pretty difficult to book activities in advance, especially if you’re of different age groups. Expedia tries to make that easier for you, by now including activities in the things you can book with them, and even giving you several options for senior citizens, kids, and the “normal, regular” people. Your vouchers will be stored in the “Your Trips” section and then you can claim your tickets at the activity’s redemption area.
The update rollout should reach users in the next few days. Meanwhile, if you haven’t been using Expedia yet but you’re planning to travel often, you can download the app for free from the Google Play Store.
