When indie game developer Frogmind released the sequel to their much-loved game Badland, of course called Badland 2, on iOS, Android users were eagerly awaiting when they could play it on their smartphone or tablet. But months passed and we still didn’t have the game. Now, finally, Badland 2 is making its way to Android devices, but it’s not being published by its developer, but rather by Cheetah Mobile. While the game is free to play, the way the in-app purchases are set up may be cause for concern.
The game is still very much like the original, with its innovative side-scrolling and physics based gameplay. The graphics are of course now more pronounced and the challenges are now more difficult. Which brings us to the in-app purchases. They are very much tempting, especially in a complicated and addictive game like this. The IAPs range from $0.99 to $9.99, and if you have little self-control, then you’ll probably end up spending a significant amount of money here.
Cheetah Mobile is also going after those who are publishing cracked versions of the game, where you get to unlock all these “goodies” without having to pay a single cent. Of course that is not going over well with the publisher, since they’ve chosen to make this game free to play and will earn money from advertisers and IAPs of course. Over on iOS, the game is $3.99 and has no IAPs whatsoever.
But if you think you can withstand the temptation, you can buy Badland 2 from the Google Play Store for free. Just don’t mind it every time an offer comes up for you to buy stuff.
