There has been plenty of back and forth about whether the HTC One is coming to Verizon Wireless. The most recent rumors surfaced just yesterday and brought talk of a Verizon Wireless branded HTC One with Android 4.2.2. According to that rumor, the Verizon HTC One is currently being tested by HTC reps. While there has yet to be any in-the-wild sightings of the handset, we have been told that Verizon will be announcing the HTC One later today.

The details we have received come by way of a source that wants to remain anonymous. No real surprise in that respect, however we should make it clear this source has provided accurate tips dealing with Verizon devices in the past. With that in mind, the announcement is expected to take place at 11AM PST during CTIA in Las Vegas.

Aside from this tip and the rumor about HTC reps testing the Verizon One, the carrier has also been running a sale on the DROID DNA. This offer was for a free (on-contract) DROID DNA and kicked off on May 14th and ran through May 21st. The news of the sale immediately brought speculation of the HTC One because of previous comments from an HTC rep.

If you remember back, HTC Director of PR Tom Harlin talked up the DROID DNA during a recent Yahoo! chat. Harlin talked about how the DROID DNA launched in late 2012, but still had features that competed with 2013 devices. More to the point here, Harlin mentioned that when HTC was ready to announce something new with Verizon, they would “make a big deal about it so you’re all aware.”

Well, it is looking like today will be that day and the CTIA announcement will be that big deal. Time will tell how this plays out, however we will be onsite and are expecting the HTC One to be announced for Verizon. The few pieces that we are still wondering about — when they handset will be available for purchase and if that date is set sometime in the future, when pre-orders will begin.
