We heard of the news that TP-Link would be launching its own smartphone line called the Neffos. The Neffos C5 series was unveiled in January and now it’s got a follow-up in the form of the Y5L Smartphone. It’s not really from the same series but we know the two have some things in common. The Y5L is the first from TP-LINK’s new Y series and the fourth smartphone from the company we knew has always been related to networking.
This isn’t a special phone for networking purposes but it’s another good alternative to the numerous Android phones in the market today from other brands we don’t even know. According to TP-LINK, the Neffos Y5L is best for the younger audience who wants a more hip gadget that’s easy on the eyes and the pocket. This smartphone offers a nice camera that’s good enough for taking endless selfies. It can keep up with most multi-tasking demands and offers dual SIM support.
The Neffos Y5L is a simple mobile device that’s ideal for those buying their first ever smartphone. Parents may find this appropriate for even the young kids because of its simplicity. Phone comes equipped with a 5MP rear camera, 2MP front-facing camera, HDR, 1.1GHz 64-bit quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM820 chipset, ARM Cortex-A7, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage, and a microSD card slot for expansion up to 32GB only. The display screen is small at 4.5-inch but that’s okay for simple smartphone tasks like web browsing, social media, messaging, and quick calls.
Phone already runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow so expect the standard features like Doze Mode, app permissions, Google Now on Tap, and enhanced battery life among others. Color options include Black, White, and Yellow. We don’t know the pricing yet but the handset will be ready for commercial release in Southeast Asia, Middle East-Africa, and West and East Europe.
