If you’re an aspiring digital music creator and you haven’t yet tried Samsung’s Soundcamp app (well, given that you have a Samsung device that is) then now is your chance to download and explore it as a major update is now available. There are a lot of new features for its mobile creation tools as well as enhancements for its advanced editing tools like Looper and Sampler. Soundcamp is a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) and MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) sequencer application available for mobile devices.

When you open Soundcamp now after the update, you’ll feel like you’re actually in a digital music studio or rehearsal room, with instruments on the floor representing the basic, preset musical instruments that you can use within the app. For example, you have an upgraded guitar and bass instruments. You can choose to play them either in Chord Mode or in Notes Mode, plus you have other techniques like string muting, string bending, hammer-ons, pull-offs and slide guitar. On the shelf meanwhile, you can find the 3rd party apps that you can use to enhance and record your music as well.

The Looper feature of the app has also been improved so making impromptu pieces is now easier and more intuitive. You can manipulate sample loops that are in the database, which are actually short sections of some tracks that have been edited. The app also has a Pattern Mode which has 256 pre-made patterns from Loopmasters which you can play around with. But there is now a more advanced Song Mode where you can use up to 64 samples instead of the 32 in Pattern Mode. It also helps you to learn how to write or make your own music by looking at and following the patterns of some well-known songs and musicians.

If you already have Soundcamp, you can update it to the latest version. If not, you can download the app for free from the Google Play Store.
