At the very least, one could say that the HTC 10 flagship smartphone was successful in one thing, and that is regaining the warm reception of the tech community for an HTC-made smartphonein terms of design and specs. Now whether it was successful in sales is totally another thing, which is probably why the Taiwan-based company has made sure it came up with new midrange phones to at least generate some sales. Enter the new HTC Desire 10 midrange phones.

We say that in the plural because there are two variants of this new midrange line – the HTC Desire 10 Pro, which will have specs very near flagship level, and the HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle, which will be priced a bit lower and will focus on consumer features. First up, the HTC Desire 10 Pro will feature a 5.5-inch FullHD (1080p) display powered by a MediaTek Helio P10 octa-core processor, supported by up to 4GB RAM and either 32GB or 64GB internal storage. The Desire 10 Pro will also include a competent 20MP main shooter and a 13MP front-facing camera.

The HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle will feature a slightly lower spec list – a 5.5-inch HD (720p) display powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor, supported by up to 3GB RAM and either 16GB or 32GB internal storage. The highlight feature will be the HTC BoomSound Hi-Fi Edition, including stereo external speakers and the exact same excellent audio hardware as in the HTC 10.

Both will run under Android Marshmallow with HTC Sense UI, and will feature a gold-edged metallic design which points to the same design language as the HTC 10. The HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle will be available in the global market by the end of September, at a price point most likely under USD$330. The more robust HTC Desire 10 Pro will be available in November, with no information on the pricing yet – but expect that to be closer to USD$400.
