Say goodbye to Google Keyboard and hello to Gboard. The newly renamed and newly updated virtual keyboard is finally available on Android and it features all the things you loved about it like Glide and voice typing, plus new things you will be able to enjoy when typing, like built-in Google search and multilingual typing. These new additions might convince people still looking for other virtual keyboards to finally switch to what Google is offering.

When you’re chatting with someone and you need to search Google for something, like an address or whether or not you’re right about which actor played the lead in a certain movie, you probably have to switch to the Google app or a browser to look for the answer. But now, all you have to do is press the G symbol on the keyboard to search and when you find the answer, just share it with whomever you’re chatting with. No need to switch apps.

You will also be able to search for emojis and GIFs. Just type in the word you’re looking for an emoticon or GIF for and all the suggestions will be there. However GIF sharing is only available for now for Google Messenger, Allo, and Hangouts. Glyde Typing has also been improved and you should notice that the speed and accuracy is also better with the update.

If you’ve enabled multiple languages on your keyboard, it will now also provide auto-correct for the other supported languages, which now numbers at more than 100. You can also be multilingual in the same conversations without having to switch to manually switch between them. You can update Gboard or if you don’t have it yet, download it from the Google Play Store for free.
