If you are the user of the Nexus S and you have applied the latest update to your device you may have noticed something a bit different in the way the screen looks. Apparently, the 2.3.3 update that Google offers for the Nexus S changes the default color temperature of the device.

Google says that the color change was to allow the smartphone to more accurately reflect darker colors at all brightness levels. Some people don’t like the color change though because it makes things look yellow.

Some users also claim that the user change in color temperature makes the images seem washed out as well. As The Inquirer points out the strange part is that lower color temperatures tend to be signified by bluish tones. I wonder if Google will leave this as is or make an update for to fix the update.

  1. Lower color temperatures are “bluish”. Lower temperatures represent lower frequencies (or longer wavelength) and hence the spectrum is shifted towards red.
