Lenovo is a pretty solid name when it comes to smartphones in the emerging market of India. That is why it is understandable that it will attach its name to new products that will be launching in that region, even though the device is technically under a sub-brand. This is what’s happening with the ZUK Z1, which is set to launch in India really soon. Only, it will not be under ZUK but rather it will be marketed and sold under the name Lenovo Z1.

ZUK is in fact, a sub-brand of the OEM, created to go against the Xiaomis and One Pluses of this world. But since Lenovo seems have a good reputation in India, they decided to release the Lenovo Z1 instead of the ZUK Z1, even though they’re exactly the same smartphone. It won’t actually cause confusion since ZUK is a relatively little-known brand anyway. What’s important for most people is that it is a quality smartphone worth their money, and carrying a brand they trust.

The ZUK Z1, or rather, the Lenovo Z1, is a 5.5-inch device with a 1080p display and is powered by a Snapdragon 801 processor. It has 3GB RAM and 64GB of internal memory but no microSD card slot available so you’d have to do with that space. It has a 13MP main camera, with OIS, autofocus and dual LED flash, and an 8MP front-facing camera. And it has a 4,000mAH battery that should last you longer than most in its range.

There is no pricing available yet for the Lenovo Z1. But its launch in India is imminent, so just watch out for it soon.
