When a red-hot brand new smartphone, an upcoming movie that is sure to break box-office records, your favorite athletes from various fields and two newcomers come together, what will you end up with? Apparently, you’ll get a brand new brand tie-up with Samsung and Marvel bringing you the Samsung Avengers video series called Assemble (Part 1). This is a pretty nifty marketing gimmick to promote not just the movie (which probably doesn’t need any more promotion) but also the newly released flagship devices, the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge.

The video features Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy who is the sporting equivalent of Hulk, Swiss cyclist Fabian Cancellara (also known as “Spartacus”) who is Hawkeye, and Hawaiian surfer John John Florence whose blond locks make him of course Thor. 4th grade student Bobby Martinez represents kids everywhere and apparently is Captain America while Sasha Blanc, a mechanical engineer from Prague is not surprisingly, Black Widow. All five receive a package marked X, which leads them to a Shawarma joint, where as we know, Avengers like to hang out.

When they realized they still lacked an Iron Man, in walks arguably the greatest footballer of the moment, Lionel Messi, carrying his own package as well. When they do open the small suitcase marked X, what do they see? Of course, the Samsung Galaxy S4. It’s not necessarily a tasteless product placement, because after all, it is a promotional video/ad campaign for their newest baby. It actually looks pretty cool in this setting, and these six guys think so too.

Eventually, we suppose, it will be revealed to them that they are part of a secret initiative called upon to simulate the powers of the Avengers. Color us intrigued with where they will be taking this video series next. It might be the Avengers fever or even Galaxy S6 fever, but we’re looking forward to seeing the next installment in the series.
