If you’ve been using Gmail for so long (well, ever since it came into the market), you’ve probably forgotten that once upon a time, you did have a Yahoo email address. Some people decided to stick with theirs and if you’re one of those, then we have good news for you, if you use the mobile version, the Yahoo Mail for Android. The newest update to the app brings you the ability to customize your swipes, as well as your actionable notifications.

Apps that do swiping for emails has definitely made our lives easier and helped us get control of that sometimes overwhelming Inbox. But sometimes the default actions are not “natural” to you so it takes time to adjust. Yahoo Mail now lets you dictate what you want the actions to do by letting you customize what happens when you swipe left or swipe right. Default action for swiping left is to delete, and right is to mark as read/unread. But if that doesn’t work for you, you can now set it up the way you want the swipes to work.

Another new feature in this update is that you can already take action on the email right from the notification bar. The same action that you customized for the app is the same as what you can do in the notification. The multi-select toolbar now also has star and mark as spam options in its overflow menu. If you want to apply the action to more than one email, just long press on any message and checkboxes will appear.

The update is rolling out internationally starting today, so check if it’s available for you already. If you don’t have Yahoo Mail for Android yet but would like to start using your still existing yahoo email addy, you can download it from the Google Play Store for free.
