Earlier this week we reported that Microsoft’s classic Age of Empires was headed to Android, and possibly a slew of other Microsoft Studio games as well. After the immediate excitement, we’re now hearing conflicting reports that the rumor was just a “translation error” and we in fact won’t be seeing more games hit Android.

While Age of Empires is probably the only Microsoft Studios game I’d like on my Android device, which has been confirmed for arriving later this year, their big man in charge said they have no plans to bring others to the mobile market. Well, at least not for Android or iOS.

Head of Microsoft Studio Phil Spencer had a few comments to share recently regarding these new rumors, and many will be sad to hear that Age of Empires is their only planned port. Nothing else will be coming. He confirms on Twitter that the rumor started from a “translation error” and further states the company is “not bringing Xbox games to non-MS devices.” Dreams. Shattered.

If there is one thing to take away from this, it’s that he states “Xbox” games aren’t going to be seen elsewhere. However, we could still potentially start seeing some of those Windows PC titles be ported to Android, iOS, and of course Windows Phone. This isn’t from Microsoft, but all I want is the original Lemmings for Android. That would be epic!
