End-to-end encryption seems to be the name of the game now in terms of messaging apps. Wire is one of the newer apps out there that offer this secure way of communicating with colleagues or loved ones through voice, video, and group chats. The latest update to the app now brings the ability to send files to whoever it is you’re chatting with, as well as the ability to directly reply through notifications and support for two more languages.

Wire says that one of their most requested features is to be able to send files within conversations. Now, it is possible through both the desktop version and the mobile apps as well. You can start sharing files up to 25MB in size by pressing the + button at the bottom of your chat window and then choose which files to share. You can send Office documents, PDFs, videos, and other file types. If you receive files on your window, you can view it right within the conversation, open them up with the app of your choice, or save the file on your device.

Of course, the files you send back and forth are also fully end-to-end encrypted, just like all the messages you exchange with contacts. You will also now be able to reply to messages without having to open up the Wire app itself. If you receive the notification, you can reply from there directly. The update also brings language support for French and Russian.

You can update your Wire app as it has started rolling out to users. If you still don’t have Wire and would like to try out a new, more secure messaging app, you can download it for free from the Google Play Store.
