The aging yet very popular media manager and player we all know as Winamp has just received an update in the Google Play Store. For those that love Winamp back to the old Napster days and beyond, you’ll be happy to know this music player for Android got a little better this week. They’ve integrated notification controls and fixed a few bugs.

I’ve always been a huge fan of Winamp, all the way back to the days of 56k and Napster. Forget Metallica, lets talk about Winamp as the ultimate music manager. It certainly isn’t Google Music, but for those who love all the options, add-ons, equalizers, and the old school look and feel you’ll want to check out the latest version.

The entire design still feels a bit dated and could use an overhaul, but that probably isn’t happening any time soon. Honestly I still enjoy Winamp simply for the add-ons and nostalgia, but there’s tons of better options available in the Play Store. I’ve resorted to PowerAmp long ago, and that’s only when I’m not using Google Music for my needs.

The guys at AndroidPolice state that the several of bug fixes include SHOUTcast and AAC audio playback, but the listing on the Google Play Store doesn’t confirm any of the changes. Simply listed as “fixed miscellaneous bugs”. So if you’re a Winamp fan get the update below. Otherwise, let us know in the comments what your go-to music player is on Android.
