It’s the day you’ve been waiting for, the day where we give you one of THREE Motorola XOOM tablets we’ve got stowed away, courtesy of our awesome friends at NVIDIA! Of course, as you know, the Motorola XOOM Android 3.0 Honeycomb-laden 10.1-inch tablet is powered by NVIDIA’s always excellent Tegra 2 dual-core processor, and the ones we’ve got for you here at the wifi-only versions. That means no data plan for you, just a free and clear powerhouse of an Android tablet! We’re going to use this opportunity to get everyone in the community hooked up with our recently born AC Facebook page, too – wins for everyone!

To win one of these fabulous tablets, you must:

1. “like” us on Facebook: facebook.com/androidcommunity.com
2. Comment on the wall saying something nice like “Android Community and NVIDIA have no less than dual-core generosity!”

Contest begins April 11, 2PM PST, and ends May 1, 2PM PST. A winner will be announced every Monday @ 5PM PST here in the main news feed and at our official Facebook page.

WINNERS will be given the opportunity to submit a review of their XOOM and have it posted on the front page of AndroidCommunity.com! *Reviews may be edited or modified before publication and are considered works for hire under the 1976 Copyright Act. Submissions will be ineligible for payment or remuneration.

Competition entries are only accepted via the specified Android Community Facebook page; entries left in the comments section of this or any other post will not be recognized. One entry per person (and yes, we check). Winners of the April 2011 SlashGear XOOM giveaway are ineligible to win the April 2011 Android Community XOOM giveaway, and vice-versa.

The winners will be announced on SlashGear and will be expected to contact Android Community via the following email: chris@androidcommunity.com ; they will be expected to respond within 24 hours else their prize may be forfeit and another winner selected. 1. Android Community and NVIDIA thoroughly agree that the Android operating system is the future of computing and communications. That’s the kind of agreement you’d expect from two industry giants!

  2. I would be very happy to write a comprehensive review of the Motorola Xoom tablet. Oh yes I would! Just tell me the word count you want and I shall have it completed before deadline.

The only little problem with that is that I do not have a Motorola Xoom tablet to evaluate. Got the room for one. Got the fast Wi-Fi ready to go. No tablet, though.

Okay, okay, I did put in an undisturbed half hour playing with the Xoom at Best Buy a few days ago. I even showed one of the sales guys there how to properly demonstrate the Xoom so it looks like it was zooming along. And, I left this site and a couple others bookmarked just to insure potential customers would have good sites to look at when playing.

However, there was no way that I could justify buying the Xoom on a two year contract. Almost everyplace I go has great Wi-Fi and that’s all I need. My EVO can take care of everything else for me when I’m in a pinch.

Hell, send me a Xoom and I’ll write three or four articles on it, if you wish. And you might wish, too, because I have a few interesting ideas for a tablet like that and none even require rooting. lol

  3. NOTE: adding comments here are certainly a thing you can do, but they DONT increase your chances of winning – everyone who “likes” and comments on our Facebook page has an equal chance.

  9. I would love to win a Xoom and submit a review. My first impression is that they are AWESOME and can’t wait to get my hands on one.

Great giveaway Android Community and NVIDIA!

That being said. I like the screen size, that it come with Adobe10, so I can download thousands, no millions of books and docs. That it is LEADING the way in non-apple next wave technology. Its light weight (outstanding for a fully disabled-but healing person like me)

SOoooo how soon will you be shipping my new Xoom??

  12. (Not sure if the wall is here or there, but if it is *Here* and not *there*, let’s try this anyway, right?) So the good folks at SlashGear, as well as Android Community teamed up with Graphics Chip Powerhouse-Maker NVIDIA who are giving techies like us a more than generous in the post-tax season (if you’re in the US, of course). Considering that some have paid their fair tidth to the “taxman” this season, you could say that this is a heck of a return, with a flagship model tablet that sports the Tegra2 in it’s very generous dual core chipset. While there were hiccups with the 3G/4G Verizon version with it’s original rollout, it’ll be interesting to see what (if any) fixes are done with this tablet, and how (if applicable) one can/will root and “cook” the device (which I admit I intend to do if one should fall into my hands.)

Whomever wins, I hope will write a decent review on this wifi only edition device; and maybe categorize it in two parts: With the stock ROM, and with “improvements” through other roms. Maybe show a couple of videos of their hands on and even show pics of a day’s usage. Maybe even go out and show what the new Xoom case looks like (if you buy one — The Verizon version, from what I read, is essentially craptacular. The Sprint version of the case is supposed to be a vast improvement). But above all, I’d like to see a review on how the winner of the XOOM uses it to so-exist with their laptops, desktops and smartphones (and maybe even show some of the advantages of using all for different tasks. It’d help travelers, like myself, make the important decision on whether we do buy this tablet and maybe even when. Of course, if I should happen to win this tablet, expect me to put it through the paces and make it scream for mercy!

Again, thanks to Android Community, SlashDot and NVIDIA for giving away these seemingly awesome pieces of kit. With a little luck, maybe I’ll get the chance to see just how awesome they are. 😉

  13. Was drooling over the zoom at bestbuy tonight, you guys are unbelievable to actually give one away but three! How awesome it would be for my 5 yr old grandson to play this thing, he is always playing with my daughters ipod touch. His face would really light up playing angry birds with this bad boy. Thank you for making android a better os. And helping the consumer be more knowledgeable about the incredible technology. Thanks Steve Roberts.
