Despite the recent “controversies” it has gotten into, specifically with law enforcement who were not too pleased by the police feature in the app, Waze is still one of the more popular navigation apps out there, particularly for those driving through unfamiliar cities and towns and those trying to get out of regular or accidental traffic jams. The crowd-sourced app now has an update, with new features to make your drive and navigation even easier.

One of the new features in this update is the addition of the Time in Traffic Bar. While Waze’s intent is to get you out of traffic, hence the crowd-sourcing aspect of it, there are times when you really get stuck. To keep you from going insane and to give you hope you’ll eventually get out of it, the Traffic Bar will give you an estimate of how long you’ll be in that jam. It shows a progress bar that will show how long it is until your destination and how long this traffic jam will actually be.

Another updated feature is the guided navigation which will show you the best route to take which it will indicate with a “Let’s go via” voice instruction. And if you just bought a new phone and will install Waze for the first time there, just log in to your account and it will automatically recover your details, including your saved points and information. The update also brings faster time in getting search results, routes, and reroutes, as well as smoother navigation.

The usual bug fixes and improvements can also be found in this latest update. You can manually update the app through its Google Play Store page or download it from there if you don’t have it yet on your Android smartphone.
