Waze Amber Alert Program 2

Waze is one of the most useful traffic social apps today. I use it when I’m clueless about the traffic or when I know I’m going to be late for an appointment. The app is great that Google decided it could be pre-installed on Android smartphones as we mentioned yesterday. To make Waze even better, its development team has integrated AMBER Alerts to help with child abductions.

AMBER Alerts is a child abduction alert system project of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. This special alert program is integrated with Waze to help in the search and safe recovery of children who are missing. Various broadcasters, law-enforcement agencies, and transportation agencies are now working with the wireless industry to bring the whole community together. To date, the program has helped and safely recovered about 728 children. With all AMBER alerts sent across the community, these children are now safe in the arms of the parents and guardians.

It only makes sense that this program is added to Waze. You know how Wazers can be very active in sharing and we’re certain that more communities in the US will be safer. Waze will be scanning for AMBER alerts every ten minutes and display a live alert if there is one. It will be displayed in the geographic area and will be shown only when vehicles have completely stopped for 10 seconds. It will appear once per week per individual alert according to the Waze team. Waze AMBER alert will show as much information: a photo of the child or model or license plate of a missing vehicle the child may be riding. Clicking on ‘More Info’ will open a browser and reveal more info about the child.

AMBER alerts on Waze is expected to bring the community closer together. It will be a great contribution to the society, bringing relevant information for the safety of children, as well as, awareness of parents.
