Want an Android Phone? Don’t Choose AT&T

08 March 2010 by David Junior

We all thought that Verizon would be the one to lock down Android. Verizon chose the other option and allowed Android to breath and mainly left its core untouched. In comes AT&T, first they stripped out Google Search in every area of the device but that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

There have been reports that users can’t download apps from places other than the Market. Also, you cant remove any of the preinstalled AT&T apps. If you thought Android 1.5 was the worst thing about this phone, think again it’s AT&T.

Some People Need to Hit the wall to learn.
  13. i dont think apple will move to tmobile. tmo IS in bed with google. i dont think there will be room for an iphone.
  14. It makes business sense to make other phones the step kids at AT&T...

The said thing is that new att/android users/customers won't get a chance to enjoy the google experience!
  15. Hmmm I suspect its to keep iPhone users from getting jealous of droids freedom.

and I wonder if it ends up getting rooted how long any of those restrictions will last.
  16. Sounds like they should call this garbage Bannedroid.

  19. AT&T and their phones is definitely not a choice smart person would make ... their phones suck! Unlocked devices are a must if AT&T is in plan!!!

When I saw what they did to Nokia E71 - it was enough for me. Phone that was one of the best selling phones since it came out happen to hold its price vs AT&T model that NO ONE WANTS!!! I can only imagine how Android looks like lol
