Vodafone has begun pushing out the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the HTC Desire HD, only a day after HTC began distributing the generic version of the upgrade. As with the general version, it brings the Desire HD up to the same software level as the HTC Desire S.

In addition to the usual bugfixes, Vodafone’s changelist suggests the following tweaks:

  • Enhancements to the user interface (simpler and slicker)
  • New Android Keyboard,  with easy copy/paste feature
  • Improved Power Management
  • Internet Calling support
  • Multiple Camera Management (front and back)

As far as we know, Vodafone is the first UK carrier to get their branded version of Gingerbread for the Desire HD into the wild. Let us know how you get on with the upgrade in the comments.

  6. Just updated ma desire hd and I’m impressed, the interface has become a lot slicker than before, and just many tweaks here and there. Hopefully the messages problem is sorted, coz I was extremely pissed when a couple of months ago they were wiped off my phone. I can’t be goin through that again. But overall bottom line, I’m glad I didn’t buy an iPhone lol!

  8. I am on the three network and I’m just off the phone to them, they haven’t a clue when they are rolling out the update. I’m not too tech savvy but it’s clear from the forums that 2.3 is noticeably better so how else can I get the update other than through my carrier?

  9. Wow well impressed got the push message from HTC this morning. Gonna do the update ASAP.
I must say HTC is definitely becoming THE smartphone. The phones just get more and more awesome. hte only lack was support (I’m in South Africa), but even then I get fast response from HTC Europe, with all my problems and queries. Now with push updates there support outright beats the rest, and well there phones have already for a while. The only problem is do I hang on to my awesome HTC DHD or get the new HTC Sensation awwww its a difficult one….

  13. I just got the android 2.3 update but im very confused. Many sites said that the new features would include a new keyboard etc. the keyboard is still the same?!!??!  is anyone else have this same scenario? or am i the only one with the old keyboard.. 🙁

    • I received an update on my phone about a month ago.It depends on which phone you have.
My update was not via my service provider, but directly via HTC update on phone,
received a push message. Though it obviuosly also depends on your provider being ready.
