Our sister site Slashgear has recently gotten some hands-on time with the ViewSonic’s ViewPad 10. The ViewPad 10 is the bigger, dual-booting brother of the Android Viewpad 7. The ViewPad 10 can run either Android OS or Windows 7. The ViewPad 10 has a Intel 1.66GHz Atom N455 processor with 1GB of RAM and a 16GB SSD. The display measures 1024 x 600 and features multi-touch gestures. This slate also comes built with WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth, two USB 2.0 ports, a headphone socket and a 1.3-megapixel camera, together with a microSD card reader.

The ViewPad 10 is the fastest Android Tablet around in terms of pure clock speed, but it comes at a price. The slate has only been able to run Android OS 1.6, while the ViewPad 7 can run Froyo. This provides a less pleasurable experience, since there is no Android Market, only a third-party download store for apps and the Android apps don’t look as good since they are simply inflated to look bigger with extra pixels. The Windows 7 works better for tasks and running specific desktop apps. Finger use on the tablet doesn’t meet expectations when running Windows. I would recommend using a keyboard and a mouse if you want to get real work done. Neither OS seems perfectly suited for this Tablet, but thats why they have put both on, so you may choose which one fits your preference. Hopefully they can update the Android OS to Froyo to make the experience better, but for now we will have to wait. This tablet will be available on November 15 with a £449 price tag, but you can get a discount via trade in.
