Samsung Pay has finally launched in the US and it’s celebrating its arrival in the country by going on a tour in some of the most iconic cities in America. Samsung will be holding special events and offers in Austin, Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco. The South Korean company will be having on-site activities and discounts to those who are interested in Samsung Pay.

One of the first mobile carriers to bring Samsung Pay is Verizon and the company just announced on Twitter that the mobile payment service will be supported initially on Verizon Samsung smartphones. Those who have their Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge+, and Note 5 from Verizon Wireless can start using Samsung Pay after a software update which has yet to roll out.

We’re curious to know how the Americans will receive Samsung Pay in the country, given that it has several rivals, most notably Apple Pay and Android Play. While Apple Pay is exclusive to iPhones, Samsung Pay is exclusive to the latest premium flagships from the brand. Right now, only four smartphones are supported but Samsung said it might be available on cheaper phones someday. Apple Pay is supported on most Android devices (but not on rooted phones) so it seems to have more advantage within the Android community.

Samsung Pay is a success in South Korea after a series of trials and its official launch in September. The service was already used on a total of 1.5 million transactions the first month alone. That’s impressive so we want to know how the new mobile payment method will be received in the US. We’ll see about that.

  1. One of the first mobile carriers to bring Samsung Pay is Verizon …

You realize that Verizon is one of the last carriers to offer support for samsung pay right? In fact, it is still not available even though T-Mobile and AT&T etc already have it available.

    • Verizon is the king! The king does not have to be the first! They probably finally worked out a deal with Samsung to have it with their customers. They are just play the power game tell Samsung who is boss! They did this with Microsoft on the Icon smartphone when Microsoft told them to release it and then delay it for 5 months and release it in February and discontinue it in September of the same year! You don’t mess with Verizon!

  2. Verizon has screwed its customers with Samsung pay. If they would have just done this from the beginning, we could have received a free wireless charger from Samsung. Now it will be too late… Verizon owes us!
