Verizon Releasing Star Wars App Pack Next Week

The Motorola R2-D2 Droid 2 was released just yesterday, but it looks like all of those Star Wars fans that weren’t able to get their hands on it aren’t being left completely in the dark. There’s been talks about a special Empire Strikes Back applications package that would be released some time after the launch of the device. If sources are correct, then it looks like the app pack could be available exclusively for Verizon customers beginning next week.

The sources, speaking with Droid-Life suggest that October 4th could be the launch date for the app pack. Inside the package, you’ll get some new Live Wallpapers, trivia games, some new widgets, photo galleries, and even new sounds for your device. Of course, if you already have the R2-D2 edition of the Droid 2, then none of these things will be new to you. The application package will apparently cost $2.99 when it does go on sale in the Android Market. And if you’re still on the fence about the new Droid on the block, check out our hands-on time with the device. And watch the video below to see it in action.
