Verizon Nexus 7 4G LTE gets real in leaked box photos

It almost sounded too good to be true when we heard rumors that an LTE version of the Nexus 7 bearing Verizon's stamp is well on its way, but now we're seeing the real deal. Sort of. A pair of leaked photos have surfaced depicting the Nexus 7 LTE boxes safely stowed away in a Verizon stockroom somewhere.

Verizon and the 2013 Nexus 7 has had a rather eventful dance ever since the latter was unveiled bringing with it the promise of LTE connectivity. Unfortunately, as it turned out, Verizon subscribers could not activate their 4G LTE service using their shiny new Nexus tablet. Naturally, this did not sit well with the Nexus-loving crowd.

Verizon, however, had a ready excuse. It simply couldn't allow such an activation on an uncertified device and, as far as it is concerned, the Nexus 7 was still in the process of getting certified. That was the official statement last September. In what could be one of the longest certification process, the 2013 Nexus 7 4G LTE has finally come to surface and should soon be available on Verizon's shelves. Of course, a couple of boxes in supply doesn't really gives us a clue as to when.

The Nexus 7 is, by far, still one of if not the top dog when it comes to tablets, and getting one might still be worth it. One can wonder, however, if the window of opportunity has passed Verizon by. Still, for those on Verizon who've been holding out for that long-awaited day, it might be a nice Valentines' gift from Big Red should the Nexus 7 LTE really come out on February 13 as rumors say.
