Aside from the Sony Xperia Z1, Z Ultra, and Z1 Compact, the next smartphone getting a sweeter Lollipop is the 1st-gen Moto X from Verizon. Actually, it’s something we’ve been waiting for since forever and good thing it’s finally here. This update brings access to other Android services on other gadgets like smartwatches, TVs, and vehicles. This also includes Material Design elements, better runtime, and 64-bit ABI support.

No mention exactly of Stagefright but Verizon says this also brings several Android security patches. There are interruption controls so you won’t miss any alarm or block interruption until the next one. You are also free to enter any scheduled downtime for your convenience any time you need or want.

This Android 5.1 Lollipop software update also improves on the factory reset protection. If device is stolen or missing, the phone can remain unlocked even if after resetting to factory settings or until the correct Google account signs in. This way, thieves are discouraged because they can’t easily authorize or activate the 1st-gen Moto X.

As for the phone’s UI, there’s now the pull-down control to easily select Bluetooth accessory or WiFi network. The Volume settings panel icons have been added in the status bas to complement other icons. If you enable Ambient Display, you’ll notice less accidental interactions, thanks to the increased minimum swipe distance.

Last but not the least, the notification volume control access has been changed a bit. You can now click on that bell icon you see on screen to show notification volume controls even when media is playing.
