Shh! It’s a quiet release! Velocity Micro have basically just told the world in a whisper voice that they’ve got a new budget tablet to add to their ever-growing line running Android 2.0 out on the market now. It’s already got mixed reviews on Amazon and looks to be something very very very basic. I mean totally basic. It’s got a 7-inch screen, 4:3 aspect ratio, 800×600 resolution, capacitive touch, Android 2.0, 802.11n Wi-Fi, and a user replaceable Li-Ion battery that provides “up to 10+ hours of life” or “24+ standby.” It comes with 256MB of RAM, includes Amazon’s Kindle e-book reader (where previous Velocity Micro tablet Cruze T103 had the Borders e-book app,) and it’s got 4GB of internal storage.

You can expand your storage on this T301 with its USB and SD card slots, a 4GB SD car being included with the device. This little creature will cost you right around $250 if you buy it on Amazon, but beware – you almost always get what you pay for. Remember this tablet runs Android 2.0 and remember that it does not run Android Marketplace. But check it out anyway!

  1. I just fired up a 301 last night. Basic is the rule… but that is the point. Mail, muisc, and movies for $199 at Best Buy and maybe $179 at Amazon… that puts the proper (?) distance between it and the Archos. Like any of the new technology, in this case tablets, within a few weeks or months you will be reading this post and saying I over paid for little features. Show me someone who buys new technolgy today, and I’ll show you a chump 3 months out.

  2. I bought one on a whim at bestbuy. I thought “it’s Sansa, must be good”. Soo wrong. This thing does nothing right. I could not even give it to my nine year old. Returning it to best buy would have cost me 15% for restock. DO NOT BUY this thing. I’ve got a kindle coming from amazon.
