We have yet to see the official word come from Motorola, however sources are suggesting US Cellular Moto X users will have an update coming today. And just to clarify, this is the Android 4.4 Kit Kat update. Assuming the update rolls out as expected, that means US Cellular users would join a group that also includes AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless. But again, this all goes back to an earlier promise from Motorola about how Kit Kat would arrive for all Moto X users within the next few weeks.

That promise was made back in mid-November when Motorola unveiled the Moto G. This would have the US Cellular Moto X going to Android 4.4 Kit Kat and with a build number of 13.11.3Q2.X-69-3-2. As we have seen the similar updates hitting other carriers, the specifics of the update come with a bit less in terms of surprise.

As a whole, this update will bring improvements to the Active Notifications and Motorola Assist as well as Touchless Controls and the camera. The US Cellular version of the update will also include updates to a few apps; WiFi Now to version 4.5.106 and Synchronoss to version 1.3.0.23. There was also mention of a SIM PUK Lock enhancement. That lock enhancement is further described as follows;

UI interface updated to help customer understand the feature to avoid locking the device.

Otherwise, as we saw with the other Moto X updates, Kit Kat brings an improved Phone dialer, Gallery, NFC with host card emulation and the new Hangouts app. Of course, some of these such as Hangouts are already available by way of the Play Store. Needless to say, those carrying a US Cellular branded Moto X should be on the lookout for an update notification to arrive.
