A leak from earlier in the week suggested US Cellular was getting ready to begin the Kit Kat rollout for Galaxy Note 3 users. And well, a quick check of the US Cellular Android downloads page is showing the update has begun. Simply put, if you are carrying a US Cellular branded Galaxy Note 3 — your Android 4.4.2 update is on the way.

The update is available over-the-air, and also by way of Kies. The easier of the two options is likely to grab the over-the-air update. Those choosing this route should grab their handset and navigate to the Settings and look for About Device -> Software Update to try and get the process started.

But remember, these types of updates rollout over time — which is just another way of saying it may, or may not be available for your specific device just yet. Otherwise, US Cellular also offers some directions for those using the Samsung Kies setup. Along with your Galaxy Note 3 getting the bump to Android 4.4.2, it will also be left sitting as baseband version N900R4TYUCNAB.

As we have seen plenty of other devices getting updated to Kit Kat, some of these details may be a bit familiar. That said, the Kit Kat update deals with the phone dialer, camera, Hangouts, Ok, Google and emoji. The full changelog sits below;

  • Phone Dialer: The new phone app automatically prioritizes your contacts based on the people you talk to the most. You can also search for nearby places and businesses, your contacts, or people in your Google Apps domain.
  • Camera: Enhanced the “touch to focus” option with a new circular, on screen control that can be dragged by your finger around the viewfinder to adjust a photo’s focus and exposure.
  • Hangouts: With the new Hangouts app, all of your SMS and MMS messages are together in the same app, alongside your other conversations and video calls.
  • Just say “Ok Google”: You don’t need to touch the screen to get things done. When on your home screen* or in Google Now, just say “Ok Google” to launch voice search, send a text, get directions or even play a song
  • Emoji everywhere: Sometimes words can’t express how you feel. For that, there’s Emoji, the colorful Japanese characters, now available on Google Keyboard.
