The folks over at NotebookItalia.it have definitely found themselves a gem at this year’s COMPUTEX trade show in Taiwan. They have image and video evidence of what looks like an upgraded, updated Remix Pro 2-in-1 tablet and notebook combo. There are some design changes, but what’s more important are the upgrades on the inside.

First up, although the design language seems to be the same, this does not seem to be the same animal that Jide Technology showed at CES 2016. That version of the Remix Pro tablet convertible was powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810. This new updated design has used a new magnesium alloy chassis that has visibly reduced the girth of the device – the new Remix Pro is thinner than the previous year (less than 7mm) and also lighter (at around 650 grams).

Very interesting is the choice to go with the new midrange octa-core Snapdragon 652 chipset. It is cheaper than the previously used SD810 by far, but with the Adreno 510 GPU can easily handle the 12-inch IPS LCD screen with 2K resolution. That will be supported by 3GB RAM, Bluetooth 4.1, WiFi MU-MIMO, and 4G-LTE on some variants.

Interestingly, Jide has been able to put a lot of expansion ports on the side of the screen despite the thin form factor. You get a full-sized USB and a USB Type-C port, a combo audio port, and a microSD slot. The Remix Pro runs Remix OS 3.0, which is the equivalent of Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Jide has not been forthcoming with pricing and launch, and says that this variant is a reference design. This means that we might see this design with a different brand name slapped on, but this is definitely worth a look when it does come out.

Thank you, Marco!
